Tips for livestreaming with TicketCo TV (Organizers) Follow
Quality of the content depends on the quality of broadcast.
While getting ready to stream your event you need to make sure that all the components are working correctly and you have enough hardware resources to provide smooth user experience for your audience.
- Equipment processing power
The higher the quality the more hardware resources are needed. Make sure your computer is able to handle encoding and streaming of the video. It is recommended to test performance at least 24 hrs before the planned live streaming in order to have time for eventual changes.
- Updated software
Keep your streaming software and hardware drivers up to date.
Use 30 minutes of free of charge testing inside TicketCo system to check if your setup, internet connection and all devices are working as planned. Testing the stream can be activated on the Technical information tab on the event. Adjust software settings if necessary.
Recommended upload speed depends on the quality of the streamed content.
When streaming a live video there are couple of things that need to be considered;
- Stability of the network connection
TicketCo recommends using network cable instead of relying on Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi can be affected by interferences that can occur at any time. If your network connection is down end users will experience lagging of the video.
- Unnecessary devices that may share the bandwidth
Make sure that the connection you are using is free of any third party devices that are not essential for streaming. Smartphone starting planned download of an update can affect the output of the internet connection.
- Internet connection bandwidth
Since nominal output of the internet connection is an average calculated over period of time, it is generally recommended to have a buffer of 35-40% of the bandwidth. Assuming you have a stable 10 Mbit bandwidth you will be able to safely stream a video of 720p with 30 fps.
Here are some generally accepted bandwidths depending on the quality of the stream:
|30 fps||3.2 - 5.0 Mbps||4.4 - 6.2 Mbps||3500 - 5000|
|60 fps||4.4 - 6.2 Mbps||5.6 - 7.4 Mbps||4500 - 6000|
TicketCo recommends between 2000 and 4000 kbps for video, with up to 160 kbps for audio (with 128 kbps recommended).
❗ Buffer of 35-40% output for bandwidth will guarantee that you will not go below what is recommended for streaming
We recommend using 30 fps videos instead of 60 fps as increased number of frames does not make significant change in quality for end users. Increased framerate will double the cost of consumed bandwidth.
✔️ The only case where 60 fps could be considered are dynamic sport events.
