Promo code discounts
In this article we will explain how you can set up promo code discounts for your events. If you are unsure whether this is the correct type of discount for you and your ticket buyers, please read through this article.
Discounts tabClick on Discounts in the main menu, and then select Create discount.

You should then get a pop-up which looks something like this:
Setting up your discount
Name your discount under Title. This name will be displayed on your event page, so make sure it is clear and descriptive.
For a promo code discount, the Criteria should be set to Promo code. In the Value field is where you type in your desired promotional code which you will distribute to your guests.
Under Max items to be discounted, you can choose to limit how many items will receive the discount before it automatically stops being applied. If you would rather not limit this, then enter 0 here.
Under Max number of items per order, you can specify how many tickets you want the discount to apply to. For example, if you input 2 into the max items per order field, this means that the discount will apply to 2 tickets per order. If you don't wish to limit the amount of discounts per order, enter 0 in this field.
You can then set up when the discount will be valid, by adding dates and times in the Valid from and Valid to sections.
Under Discount you can select whether you wish to provide a discount as a certain percentage or as a particular value. The field to the right of this is where you input the value.
- If you select "Price" and then enter 10 in the field to the right, this will mean that whenever the promo code is inputted, all applicable tickets will be discounted by 10 in the relevant currency e.g. if you are a UK organiser, these will be discounted by £10; if you are a Norwegian organiser, these will be discounted by 10NOK and so on.
- If you select "Percentage" and then enter 10 in the field to the right, this will mean that whenever the promo code is inputted, all applicable tickets will be discounted by 10%
Under Description you can add some text which will be displayed on your event page. Here is where you can explain how your discount will be applied.
Applying your discount to events
Under Choose events that will be affected you can tick all the events that wish the discount to be available on. A discount symbol will automatically be added to these event pages:
Your event will need to be published before you select it here. Remember you can always publish your event, but keep it hidden by using the Make this event private checkbox under Event details.
You should also select the specific ticket types that the discount should be applied to under Select ticket types. Then hit Save.
Monitoring your discount
Once you have set up your discount, you will find a summary of how many times it has been used, and the relevant savings and sales associated with the discount under Discount in the main menu.
Note that the discount you set up will automatically be applied to ALL relevant tickets in an order. So if you set up a ticket to be reduced by £5, and a ticket buyer purchases 3 of these tickets, all tickets will be reduced by £5.
Reporting
You will be able to see which promo codes were used to access specific tickets on the XLS report for each event.
