What do I need to scan and sell tickets?
The TicketCo Admin app
The TicketCo Admin app is the what you'll need to scan and sell tickets and other items. To install the app, go to the App Store or iOS or Google Play Store on Android, and search for "TicketCo". Download the app called "TicketCo Admin" / "TicketCo Event organiser app".
The app requires the operating system on your device to be updated to a certain version or higher:
|
Android | iOS (Apple) |

6.0 or higher | 12.0 or higher |
Scanning tickets | ✅ | ✅ |
Selling tickets as cash sales, with gift cards or vouchers, creating reservations | ✅ | ✅ |
Selling tickets with Zettle integration (accepting card payments over the counter) | ✅ | ✅ |
*The app works on macOS as well. It is not recommended to use it on a Mac although - but it is possible. You can have an overview on how it works and looks. The minimal requirements are: macOS 11.0 and a Mac with Apple M1 chip.
Network requirements
When taking payments a stable internet connection is absolutely essential. This can be in the form of a designated WiFi, a 4G router or even a SIM card in the device itself. Remember that the network is an essential part of your payment infrastructure and should not be overlooked.
Selling tickets
You can sell tickets on both Android and iOS devices. To accept card payments over the counter, you will need a Zettle card reader. Make sure your device is running on a compatible version of iOS or Android.
In addition to card payments, you will be able to sell tickets and:
- Register the sales as cash payments
- Enter the customer's gift card reference code to accept payment
- Enter the customer's voucher reference code to accept payment
- Enter the customer's click card reference code to accept payment
- Create reservations
Use the menu on the right hand side to see how to connect your Zettle card reader to your device. Head this way for instructions on how to sell tickets.
Scanning tickets
Scanning tickets can be done on both our Android and iOS apps. We generally recommend using an Android phone for this purpose because they tend to be less expensive. The Galaxy Xcover 4s from Samsung is great device for scanning tickets. More help with how to scan tickets is found here.
Printing tickets
Note that you do not always need a printer, as when selling tickets in the app, you can distribute them straight away by SMS or email.
If you need a printer to print tickets we have two recommendations:
1. Star Micronics TSP654ii BTii
This is our 'economy' printer. It's fairly inexpensive and widely available. It prints on thin receipt-like thermal paper. This is a great option for situations where your customers are not expected to carry around the ticket for long periods of time.
2. BOCA Lemur series
This is the 'premium' printer and is a typical choice for football clubs that need their own branding on the tickets. It prints on thicker, more robust paper that can be completely customised. There are some restrictions, however, so if you want to use this printer please contact us for more information.
