Copying events
If you are planning on having a series of very similar events, or perhaps a season of sports matches which will all follow the same pattern, then our Copy feature can be very useful. Copying events will help you quickly and effectively create new events based on events you already have set up in TicketCo.
NEW! You can now Copy season passes and subscription events.
How to copy
Navigate to the event that you want to copy. You will find the Copy button under Event Details, next to Preview:
Selecting Copy, will present you with this screen:
In the Title field, you should input the name of your new copied event. The Event Path will automatically be filled in based on the name you have inputted. Because the event path/event URL is based on the title of your event, you should ensure that your title is unique. If the event path matches another event you already have, then you will not be able to complete the copy.
If you are planning on having the same event on different days, you could signal the day or date of the show in your event title, so that each event link is unique such as Hairspray, Friday 10th; Hairspray, Saturday 11th. This is can also be very helpful for your ticket buyers who are choosing between a series of events with similar names.
You can then select the dates and times of your new event under Start at and End at. Click Save once you are ready, and you will be taken through to your new copied event, which will also be found under Draft events until you choose to publish it.
What is copied?
- Event description, image, location, tags, category
- All capacities and ticket types (including price, description, images etc.)
- Groups/Price zones
- Seat map (if applicable)
- Questions
Note that admin sales will not be copied across, and neither will any current purchases. Your copied event will not have any purchases registered under Report, as it will be an entirely new event.
If you are copying a season pass or subscription, your seat map will not be copied. This is because you assign a seat map to a season pass or subscription according to the individual associated events you have added. If, however, you add the same seat map as previously (via the associated events), then price zones will be configured in the same way as before.
Top tips!
⭐️ If you are copying a series of events which should be exactly the same, perhaps in order to set up a season of matches, then it is worth double checking that you have set up your first event exactly as you want it before copying. Otherwise you might find yourself having to manually edit 14 different events!
⭐️ Note that if you are setting up a series of similar events, then copying can still be very useful. You can always edit the copies afterwards, so you could, for example, always adapt the event description and image accordingly. In this case, you may use the copy feature in order to save time inputting ticket types for each individual event.
⭐️If you copy the event with the wrong date, please remember that the ticket type dates will not be affected by changes in the event date. In case the date was set in the past the ticket types will not be showing as available until the fields of sales start and sales end are corrected.
